Volleyball Game Preview: Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy Warriors vs. Bowie Bears

Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Annalysa Martinez. The Warriors blew past Harmony Science Academy 3-0 on Friday for which the team can thank Martinez, who had 16 digs and two aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last four times she's played.

While Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Harmony Science Academy scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-22, 25-22.

Bowie not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since August 29th (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on Harmony School of Innovation with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won five in a row.

Bowie was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-17, 25-16.

Bowie's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy came up short against Bowie when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
