Softball Recap: Oneonta Redskins vs. North Jackson Chiefs
After losing to North Jackson the last time they met, Oneonta decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Oneonta Redskins had just enough and edged the North Jackson Chiefs out 4-2.
Ashtyn Sligh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Tennley Johnson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Maddie Gargus was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
On North Jackson's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cam Case, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Oneonta's victory bumped their record up to 18-24-1. As for North Jackson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 34-12.
