Softball Recap: Ansonia Comes Up Short

Ansonia came into this matchup off a tough six-run defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Covington Buccs by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buccs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2021.

Shyann McKenna was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Addie Geyer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Ansonia's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Covington, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ansonia will challenge Russia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Covington, they will square off against Greenville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
