Football Game Preview: Eldon Mustangs vs. Hallsville Indians

The Eldon Mustangs will take on the Hallsville Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eldon is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Eldon is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Boonville on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Mustangs were outmatched by the Pirates and fell 58-19. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-13.

Although Eldon took the loss, they still got scores from Khale Hammond, Cody Brown, and Chase Atkinson.

Hallsville never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against California on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 47-22 margin over the Pintos. The contest marked the Indians' most dominant victory of the season.

Eldon better keep an eye on Landon Cunningham. He was instrumental in Hallsville's win, rushing for 85 yards and three TDs, while also throwing for 354 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes. Those 354 passing yards gave Cunningham a new career-high. Abraham Rhoades also helped out as he racked up 167 receiving yards.

The win snapped Hallsville's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-6 record. As for Eldon, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-6.

Eldon came up short against Hallsville in their previous meeting back in September, falling 43-33. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
