Baseball Recap: Rogers Comes Up Short

Rogers had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-11 to make it four. They came up short against the Start Spartans, falling 24-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-1 back in April.

As for Start, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

For Start's part, Braden Bowman made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bowman has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Brandon Scott looked comfortable as he went 4-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

Back at the plate, Joe Buck was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Start: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Emari Green, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rogers will face off against Scott at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Start, they will challenge Emmanuel Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
