Madera South scored the most runs they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 17-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Firebaugh Eagles. The Stallions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 9-4.

Xochil Miranda led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Anilee Larios was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Madera South is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Firebaugh, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

Looking ahead, Madera South will be playing in front of their home fans against Kerman at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kerman's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Madera South's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Firebaugh, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-3 loss against Immanuel on the 24th.
