Baseball Game Preview: Rhea County Golden Eagles vs. Cleveland Blue Raiders

For the second straight game, Rhea County will face off against Cleveland. The Golden Eagles will challenge the Blue Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Rhea County took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Cleveland by a score of 9-6. The win was some much needed relief for the Golden Eagles as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Levi Love spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Rhea County got a massive performance out of Reese Pendergrass, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Pendergrass a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jax Schmitt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Pendergrass wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Rhea County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Rhea County's victory bumped their record up to 6-16. As for Cleveland, they moved to 18-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
