Basketball Game Preview: Mellen Granite Diggers vs. Drummond Lumberjacks + How To Watch

Mellen is 2-8 against Drummond since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Granite Diggers will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Lumberjacks at 7:15 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.

If Mellen beats Drummond with 65 points on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Granite Diggers breezed past Butternut to the tune of 65-22 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Granite Diggers.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Drummond, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 61-20 win over Lac Courte Oreilles.

Drummond's win came from a few key players Mellen will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aaron Christenson, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 12 points and three steals. He has also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 56% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Quaderer, who went 7-for-10 en route to 16 points.

Mellen's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Drummond, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
