Softball Recap: Christian's Loss Ends 16-Game Winning Streak at Home

Christian dropped their record down to 18-5-1 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's 16-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell 7-3 to the Point Loma Pointers. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pointers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Christian got a good showing from Sienna Staite, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Staite has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Christian saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sammy Baca, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Tyler Krystek was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

As for Point Loma, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games.

On Point Loma's side, Ella Poulin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Bella Lopez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Annika Isaacson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Christian is set to square off against their familiar foe Patrick Henry at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Christian 3.1, Patrick Henry 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Point Loma will face off against rival Cathedral Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
