Football Recap: Macon County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Macon County lost against Bowdon back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bulldogs were dealt a 55-22 defeat at the hands of the Red Devils. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Red Devils are ranked 89th).

Joshua Hopkins was nothing short of spectacular for Bowdon: he rushed for 84 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries, and also threw for 211 yards and three TDs on only 16 passes. A healthy portion of Hopkins' aerial production (114 yards to be exact) went to Kaiden Prothro, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.

Macon County's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Bowdon, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Macon County will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Lakeside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bowdon, they will welcome Bremen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
