Basketball Recap: Centennial Eagles vs. Canby Cougars
Even though the Canby Cougars scored an imposing 55 points on Wednesday, the Centennial Eagles still came out on top. Centennial snuck past the Cougars with a 59-55 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Centennial.
When it comes to explaining why Canby lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaxon Lawson. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Lawson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jack Brauckmiller, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Centennial's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Canby, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centennial and the Eagles will face off at 7:15 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hood River Valley is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Canby, they and the Spartans will face off at 5:45 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hillsboro will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oregon Rankings (they are ranked 245th, while the Cougars are ranked 98th).
