Softball Game Preview: Fort Lauderdale Flying L's vs. Taravella Trojans

The Fort Lauderdale Flying L will face off against the Taravella Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Fort Lauderdale will be strutting in after a win while Taravella will be coming in after a defeat.

On Thursday, Fort Lauderdale needed a bit of extra time to put away Monarch. They had just enough and edged out the Knights 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Flying L's have posted since March 20, 2024.

Kylie Keenan spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Tannar Keenan was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Taravella's offense. They lost 11-0 to Pembroke Pines Charter on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Trojans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Fort Lauderdale now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Taravella, their loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Fort Lauderdale took their win against Taravella when the teams last played back in March of 2021 by a conclusive 15-0. Does Fort Lauderdale have another victory up their sleeve, or will Taravella turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
