Softball Game Preview: Grant Generals vs. McDaniel Mountain Lions

Grant is 2-8 against McDaniel since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Generals will face off against the Mountain Lions at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Grant fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Roosevelt on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roughriders. The Generals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anya Rumage and Nora DuLong stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rumage went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while DuLong earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base. Rumage is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Livia Redhead also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, McDaniel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 12-2 to Cleveland.

McDaniel saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tiffany Jordan, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

McDaniel's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Grant, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Everything went Grant's way against McDaniel in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Grant made off with a 13-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Generals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
