The home team had won the previous four meetings between Sweeny and Columbia, and Columbia kept the tradition alive. The Bulldogs took a blow against the Roughnecks on Friday, falling 41-7. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-0.
La Marque pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points over those games. As for Sweeny, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
La Marque couldn't quite get it done against Sweeny in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 42-35. Thankfully for the Cougars, Cayden Jones (who rushed for 274 yards and five TDs on only 13 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
