Football Recap: Rockdale Gets the Win

Rockdale took a 21-point loss the last time they faced off against McGregor, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Bulldogs 36-35.

Rockdale's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deandre Stephens, who picked up 143 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 41 yards. Stephens' longest reception was for an incredible 83 yards. Greyson Williams was another key passer, throwing for 240 yards and four TDs.

Isaiah Jones and Bubba Zacharias certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Jones rushed for 102 yards and one score, while Zacharias rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries.

Rockdale now has a winning record of 4-3. As for McGregor, their record is now 1-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Rockdale will square off against rival C.H. Yoe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, McGregor is set to take on their familiar foe Franklin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
