Agawam faced West Springfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Brownies blew past the Terriers 3-0. The victory continues a trend for the Brownies in their matchups with the Terriers: they've now won six in a row.

While Agawam won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 26-24, 25-17.

Joseph Culhane paced Agawam's offense, picking up 14 kills. Culhane got some help from David Dzhenzherukha and his 34 assists. Finally, Dzhenzherukha was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Agawam pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for West Springfield, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-2 record.

Agawam wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Minnechaug Regional on the 16th. As for West Springfield, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Ludlow on the 16th.
