Volleyball Recap: Maine West Comes Up Short

Maine West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lyons Lions. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Lyons' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julia Ahrens, who had eight digs and five assists. Madison Jones also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Maine West's defeat dropped their record down to 9-19. As for Lyons, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season.

Maine West didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Hersey on the 18th. As for Lyons, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Sandburg on the 18th.
