Baseball Game Preview: Jefferson Township Falcons vs. Hackettstown Tigers

For the second straight game, Jefferson Township will face off against Hackettstown. The Falcons will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Jefferson Township has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Jefferson Township fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Hackettstown on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 4-3.

For Hackettstown's part, Aaron Wolderich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. Wolderich has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hackettstown's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Marcos Rosado, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Jefferson Township dropped their record down to 10-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 2.5 runs. As for Hackettstown, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
