Basketball Game Preview: Hibriten Panthers vs. Foard Tigers

The Hibriten Panthers will square off against the Foard Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Hibriten was handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Ashe County on Monday. The Panthers blew past the Huskies 57-19. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Aamori Patterson went supernova, shooting 62% from the field to rack up 26 points and six steals. What's more, she also posted a 63% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Emilee Cook was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Foard, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Everything went their way against St. Stephens on Monday as they made off with a 50-27 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-7.

Hibriten better keep an eye on Jessica Bailey. She was instrumental in Foard's win, shooting 7-for-12 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double with 22 points and 11 boards. Bailey's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Addy Lael, who went 5-for-12 on her way to 10 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

The victory got Foard back to even at 1-1. As for Hibriten, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Everything went Hibriten's way against Foard when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as Hibriten made off with a 67-44 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
