Basketball Game Preview: Elbert Bulldogs vs. Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles

The Elbert Bulldogs will face off against the Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Tuesday, Elbert came up short against Simla and fell 59-48. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Cubs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain Lutheran took a blow against Twin Peaks Classical Academy on Tuesday, falling 89-49.

Despite the defeat, Rocky Mountain Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Abraham Rivas posted 20 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Blake Harris, who earned 14 points.

Even though they lost, Rocky Mountain Lutheran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 11 consecutive contests.

Rocky Mountain Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Elbert, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.

Everything came up roses for Elbert against Rocky Mountain Lutheran in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured an 80-23 victory. In that game, Elbert amassed a halftime lead of 54-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
