Basketball Recap: Pine Ridge Takes a Loss

Pine Ridge had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 40-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tiospa Zina Wambdi. The Thorpes' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it seven in a row dating back to last season.

Tiospa Zina can attribute much of their success to Maya Deutsch, who posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Deutsch has posted since back in December of 2023.

Tiospa Zina moved to 1-1 with that victory, which also ended their eight-game losing streak.

Pine Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-12 win against Takini on the 19th. As for Tiospa Zina, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-48 victory against St. Francis Indian on the 19th.
