Baseball Recap: Okawville Takes a Loss

Okawville had lost 15 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-16 to make it 16. They fell just short of the Chester Yellowjackets by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rockets have suffered since May 15, 2024.

Aidan Anderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits.

As for Chester, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.

On Chester's side, the result came thanks to Evan Dunning's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks. Dunning has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ethan Colvis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Blechle, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Okawville has already played their next contest (against New Athens), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Chester, they will challenge St. Louis HomeSchool P at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
