Basketball Recap: Excel Christian Academy Skates Past Trinity Prep with Ease

Excel Christian Academy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 93-65 win over the Trinity Prep Lions. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 21 points or more this season.

Evan Chappell was his usual excellent self, shooting 57% from the field en route to 27 points and eight boards. Those 27 points gave him a new career-high. Kamarrion Profit was another key player, going 5-for-9 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Excel Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Prep only eight assists.

Despite the loss, Trinity Prep still got an impressive performance from Beau Blocker, who shot 64% from beyond the arc to rack up 37 points and three steals. Blocker is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in each of the last 11 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyson Nonh, who posted nine points.

The victory (which was Excel Christian Academy's sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.2 points over those games. As for Trinity Prep, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-11 record.

Excel Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-61 win against Notre Dame Academy on the 22nd. Trinity Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
