The San Juan Broncos will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Union Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
San Juan is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Grand County. San Juan was the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over Grand County last Tuesday. The Broncos haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Elizabeth Palmer was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgann Mcpherson, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Union). They blew past Pine View 19-1 on Wednesday. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 7.7 runs per game.
Haylee Moynier made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. She also scored a run, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Mollee Rasmussen was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Peyton Barney, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Union always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine View only posted an OBP of .333.
San Juan might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Union in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Will San Juan have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
