Baseball Recap: Weaver Comes Up Short

Weaver suffered their closest loss since March 2, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Wellborn Panthers by a score of 7-5. The Bearcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 6-3.

Weaver saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cael Fulmer, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. The Bearcats are 2-1 when Fulmer posts two or more runs, but 8-19 otherwise. Caden Thorton also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Weaver has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-20 record this season. As for Wellborn, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-14 record.

Coming up, Weaver will welcome Jacksonville Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wellborn, they are taking a road trip to take on Gaston at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
