Football Recap: Kingfisher Falls to Weatherford in First Game of Season

Kingfisher had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They and the Weatherford Eagles were almost perfectly matched up, but the Yellowjackets suffered a 28-27 loss. The contest was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but the Yellowjackets couldn't quite close it out.

When it comes to explaining why Kingfisher lost, don't look at Brody Boeckman. Despite the final result, he picked up 79 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Boeckman was even better on defense, forcing two fumbles and making 20 total tackles. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Kasen Blair, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Noah Wald was a one-man wrecking crew For Weatherford. as he rushed for 153 yards and four scores. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Short, who rushed for 144 yards while picking up 8.0 yards per carry.

Looking ahead, Kingfisher will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Clinton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Weatherford, they will face off against El Reno at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
