The matchup between Cheshire and Branford on Monday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Rams narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Hornets 13-12. With that win, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Gavin Hale looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Cal Battipaglia was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Johnny Nelson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Cheshire is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Branford, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Cheshire will take on Hamden at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Branford, they will square off against Xavier at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
