Basketball Game Preview: West Florence Knights vs. Blythewood Bengals

The West Florence Knights and the Blythewood Bengals will face off at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. West Florence is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

On Wednesday, West Florence ended up a good deal behind Sumter and lost 68-49. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Gamecocks are ranked 85th).

Meanwhile, Blythewood won against Spring Valley on Monday with 72 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. Blythewood strolled past Lugoff-Elgin with points to spare, taking the game 72-56. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bengals.

Blythewood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points per game. As for West Florence, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

West Florence came up short against Blythewood in their previous meeting back in December of 2019, falling 50-42. Can West Florence avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
