Basketball Recap: Sugar Creek Charter Comes Up Short

Sugar Creek Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 66-63 heartbreaker at the hands of Garinger. Sugar Creek Charter was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Garinger apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Sugar Creek Charter still got an impressive performance from Corde Harrison, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 18 points and five boards. Harrison is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Kimani Lewis, who posted ten points.

Garinger found their leader in sophomore Aaron Lawler, who had 20 points and four steals. Chief Hunter was another key player, putting up 14 points along with five assists and four steals.

Sugar Creek Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Garinger, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Sugar Creek Charter will be playing in front of their home fans against The Math and Science Academy of Charlotte - Concord Campus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Garinger, they will square off against Rocky River at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
