Baseball Recap: Washington's Win Ends Seven-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Washington). They put the hurt on the Schlagle Stallions with a sharp 19-4 victory on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Leland Estes made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Estes was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Luis Lopez was a standout: he scored three runs and stole seven bases while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Washington: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 0-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Eric Fennix, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3.

Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Washington's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8. As for Schlagle, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washington will square off against Turner at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats are facing the Golden Bears at the right time seeing as the Golden Bears are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Schlagle, they will take on Harmon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
