Volleyball Recap: Southside Panthers vs. Buckhorn Bucks
Southside and Buckhorn squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Southside had to settle for second. They lost 3-0 to the Buckhorn Bucks. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bucks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.
Southside was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-21, 25-20.
Buckhorn found their leader in sophomore Sarai McKenzie, who had 26 digs. Those 26 digs set a new season-high mark for McKenzie.
Southside has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 21-16 record this season. As for Buckhorn, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 42-16.
Southside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Buckhorn, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Jasper on the 24th.
