Basketball Game Preview: Pickens Blue Flame vs. Travelers Rest Devildogs

Pickens is 0-10 against Travelers Rest since November of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Pickens Blue Flame will square off against the Travelers Rest Devildogs at 7:30 p.m.

Last Monday, Pickens ended up a good deal behind Blue Ridge and lost 65-51. The Blue Flame have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Pickens got top-tier performance from Gavin Mock, who went 10 of 19 on his way to 24 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Mock is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Doty, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, Travelers Rest can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They strolled past Belton-Honea Path with points to spare, taking the game 72-58.

Pickens' defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Travelers Rest, their win bumped their record up to 4-10.

Things could have been worse for Pickens, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-51 loss to Travelers Rest in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Pickens avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
