Football Recap: Perry Meridian Falcons vs. Greenwood Woodmen
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Whiteland, Perry Meridian was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 35-28 win over the Greenwood Woodmen. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 44-41 defeat the Woodmen walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2023.
Perry Meridian can attribute much of their success to Allen Zupan, who threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 44 yards. A healthy portion of that aerial production (82 yards to be exact) went to Byron Hon, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Greenwood lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Anthony Scaramazzo, who rushed for 192 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave Scaramazzo a new career-high in rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Davion Jones, who picked up 88 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The victory got Perry Meridian back to even at 3-3. As for Greenwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
