Softball Recap: Covenant Christian Warriors vs. Triton Central Tigers

Covenant Christian had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 14-12 to make it four. They fell just short of the Triton Central Tigers by a score of 6-5. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 10-5 to the Tigers when the teams met back in May of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Emmy Nottingham and Braylin Boruff did some serious damage despite the final result: Nottingham went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Boruff went 3-for-5 with two runs.

As for Triton Central, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

On Triton Central's side, Brylie Couch made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over eight innings while giving up five earned runs off 12 hits (and not a single walk). Couch has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and one double.

In other batting news, Olivia Schaadt was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Ashlyn Hittle was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.
