Softball Recap: Oakman Wildcats vs. Winfield Pirates
Oakman fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Winfield on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 last Monday.
Sophie Davis spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Journi Randle made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-5.
Oakman's defeat dropped their record down to 13-16. As for Winfield, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-4.
Oakman didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Curry on the 11th. As for Winfield, they will challenge Jasper at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
