Basketball Recap: Dillon Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda over Adrian/Ellsworth

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 65-51 bruising from the Adrian/Ellsworth Dragons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-44 back in January.

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dillon Smith, who went 7-for-14 en route to 17 points. Cole Schmidt was another key player, putting up eight points and five steals.

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda's loss dropped their record down to 3-21. As for Adrian/Ellsworth, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-14.

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda and Adrian/Ellsworth could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings. Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda will challenge Hills-Beaver Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 297 places (397 vs. 100). Similarly, Adrian/Ellsworth (ranked 336th) will meet Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (ranked 104th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
