It was a good run, but Spurger unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were dealt a 94-54 loss at the hands of the Brookeland Wildcats. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-21.

Defeat or not, Spurger got some senior leadership from Landon Heim and Kade Ford. Heim posted 16 points, while Ford scored 13 points.

Leading Brookeland to victory were Landon Smith and Cade Morgan. Smith shot 5-for-9 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten assists, while Morgan dropped a double-double on 32 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Bennett, who went 8 for 12 en route to 17 points and six rebounds.

Spurger's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-8. As for Brookeland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season.

Spurger will face off against High Island at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Spurger is facing High Island at the right time seeing as High Island is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Brookeland, they will take on Goodrich at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Brookeland's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 17 matchups.
