The Beckman Patriots will face off against the San Marcos Royals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

While Patriots fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Friday's season opener. They claimed a resounding 35-0 victory over Santa Ana Valley on the road. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Patriots just coasted through the last quarter.

Noah Nam was a one-man wrecking crew for Beckman as he threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Makhi Czaykowski also helped with two touchdowns in total.

Meanwhile, San Marcos got themselves on the board against Knight on Friday, but Knight never followed suit. They blew past the Hawks, posting a 55-0 win on the road. Given the Royals' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while the Hawks are ranked 852nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Marcos to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nathan Jones, who rushed for 49 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 30 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Cole Dominguez, who rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.

Dominguez wasn't the only one working in the rushing yards department: San Marcos was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 202 rushing yards in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

One reason for the win was San Marcos' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Max Silva and his two. Brody Branstetter was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.
