Basketball Preview: Sumner Stingrays vs. Gulf Buccaneers
Having just played yesterday, the Sumner Stingrays will jump right back in to play the Gulf Buccaneers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sumner is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.
Sumner saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of Clearwater by a score of 55-52.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Bennard Anson, who went 9-for-21 on his way to 20 points and four steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Karson Coleman, who shot 75% from the field en route to 15 points and eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Gulf put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 77-62 victory over Bloomingdale.
Gulf's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Sumner, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Everything went Sumner's way against Gulf in their previous meeting back in January of 2021, as Sumner made off with a 67-45 victory. Will the Stingrays repeat their success, or do the Buccaneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
