Thompson vs. Hoover rematch highlights semifinal action in Class 7A.
High school football playoffs in Alabama continue this weekend with Class 7A reaching the semifinal stage and all other classifications staging quarterfinal action.
The big game on the schedule comes in the Class 7A semifinals where nationally-ranked Thompson (12-0) takes on Hoover (11-1). The two teams have already met once this season with Thompson handing Hoover its only loss of the season 39-23 back on Oct. 23.
The AHSAA Super 7 state championships are scheduled for Dec. 2-4 at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. Class 7A opens the championship schedule Dec. 2, classes 1A, 3A and 5A will play Dec. 3 and classes 2A, 4A and 6A take the field Dec. 4.
Defending champions include Thompson (7A), Oxford (6A), Central of Clay County (5A), UMS-Wright Prep (4A), Piedmont (3A), Fyffe (2A) and Lanett (1A).
