Softball Game Preview: Chandler Wolves vs. Casteel Colts

For the second straight game, Chandler will face off against Casteel. The Wolves will host the Colts at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.

While Chandler's win against Casteel wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolves narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Colts 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolves have posted since April 3, 2024.

Maryn Schaffer and Lily Kolsrud did most of the damage at the plate: Schaffer scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Kolsrud scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Schaffer a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Cian Noli, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Casteel is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Chandler, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13.
