Basketball Game Preview: Declo Hornets vs. West Side Pirates

The Declo Hornets will square off against the West Side Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Monday, Declo didn't have quite enough to beat Wendell and fell 41-39.

West Side hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They secured a 36-32 W over Wendell on Thursday.

West Side found their leader in freshman Bentley Cundick, who posted nine points along with five boards and three steals.

West Side smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

West Side's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-12. As for Declo, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Declo against West Side in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 68-40 victory. Will Declo repeat their success, or does West Side have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
