Winston's win ends five-game losing streak on the road

Recap: Winston Red Birds vs. Grundy County/Newtown-Harris Panthers

The Winston Red Birds scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 51-44 win over Grundy County/Newtown-Harris. The victory was some much needed relief for Winston as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Despite the loss, Grundy County/Newtown-Harris saw an underclassman step up: Kinsley Allnutt scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Allnutt is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Molly Milazzo, who scored eight points along with two steals and two blocks.

Winston's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-15. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winston will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Stanberry at 6:00 p.m. on February 10th. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, they will take on Mercer at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
