Basketball Recap: Lake Minneola Comes Up Short + How To Watch

It was a Battle of the Birds when Lake Minneola duked it out with East River on Wednesday. The Hawks were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to the Falcons. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2018.

Lake Minneola's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaitlyn Humphreys, who posted 14 points and four steals. Humphreys is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Jaelin Bailey was another key player, putting up ten points and five steals.

Lake Minneola's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for East River, their record is now 4-6.

Lake Minneola will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ridge Community at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for East River, they are taking a road trip to take on Osceola at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
