Softball Recap: Wheatmore Sets Scoring Season-High Against Trinity

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wheatmore). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Trinity Bulldogs an 18-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Adalyn Boles was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Savannah Heiney was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Maddie Nichols, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Wheatmore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Wheatmore's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-14. As for Trinity, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.

As of now, neither Wheatmore nor Trinity have any future games scheduled.
