Recap: Central Bears vs. Leesburg Yellow Jackets
This season hasn't been kind to the Central Bears, who are still winless after their 13th matchup. They were outmatched by Leesburg at home and fell 70-4. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Central has scored all season.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Drew Richard and
Amber Jack, who each put up two points.
Felicia Taylor held things down on the boards with three rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with an assist.
Leesburg found their leader in underclassman Saige McCloud, who scored 26 points. McCloud continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniya Hester, who scored 15 points.
Central's defeat was their 12th straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-13. As for Leesburg, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will face off against Springstead at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Springstead will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Leesburg, they will head out on the road to take on East Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Leesburg is ranked 93rd).
