With a playoff win on the line, West Springfield rose to the challenge on Monday. They really took it to the Mount Vernon Majors for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-21 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Spartans have posted since December 13, 2024.

Despite the loss, Mount Vernon had strong showings from KaMiyah Dabner, who posted eight points and three steals, and Rachael Sykes, who had nine points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

The win was the third in a row for West Springfield, bringing their record for this year to 12-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points over those games. As for Mount Vernon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-11.

Coming up, West Springfield won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against South County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
