Baseball Game Preview: Normal University Pioneers vs. Morton Potters

The Normal University Pioneers will head out to square off against the Morton Potters at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Normal University had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Lincoln on Wednesday. The Pioneers were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Railsplitters. Winning may never get old, but the Pioneers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Meanwhile, Morton came tearing into Wednesday's contest with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Dragons.

Morton's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Normal University, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.

Normal University skirted past Morton 9-8 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Will the Pioneers repeat their success, or do the Potters have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
