Soccer Recap: South Takes a Loss

South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the El Segundo Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Eagles are ranked seventh).

South now has a losing record at 6-7. As for El Segundo, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1-1.

South will head out to face off against Mira Costa at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mira Costa will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something South surely won't give up without a fight. As for El Segundo, they will be playing at home against Palos Verdes at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. El Segundo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.4 goals per game this season.
