Basketball Recap: Caden Hammond Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Centennial

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Notre Dame Prep, Sunrise Mountain was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Centennial Coyotes by a score of 84-71. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 63-48 win the Coyotes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sunrise Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caden Hammond, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine boards. Those 25 points gave Hammond a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Murray, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten assists.

Sunrise Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Centennial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

When Sunrise Mountain and Centennial next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Sunrise Mountain will face off against Willow Canyon and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunrise Mountain is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Centennial will try to stop Ironwood's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
